Starly Community Day Pokémon Go guide

Pokemon GoCommunity Day in July 2022 will focus on Starry, the normal and flying Pokémon. Starly Community Day will feature a greatly increased spawn rate for Starly, with an increased chance of finding shiny versions of it, as well as learning a special move for his Staraptor evolution.

Community Day takes place on July 17, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in your local time.

As usual with all Community Days, you can buy a special Starly Community Day ticket for $1 to unlock additional Special Research tasks that award more Starly and Candy.

How do I find a Shiny Starly?

Community Day events have an increased shiny rate for the featured Pokemon. So as you play you should be able to find several Shiny Starly.

If you don’t have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Starly by popping one incense and Tap each Starly that appears. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 out of 25according to research by The Silph Road, so you should find a Shiny Starly fast.

What moves Community Day at Starly’s learn evolution?

Evolve Starly into Staraptor on July 17 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM local time to gain the Fast Attack gust.

Based on years past, if you miss Community Day, you can likely evolve your Starly during December’s Community Weekend event to get it moving. You can also use an Elite TM to teach old Community Day-only moves.

How does Staraptor fare in combat?

Staraptor has very little importance in PvE and PvP. Using it in PvP would be a niche choice and probably not worth investing in.

If you’re dying to use Staraptor in PvE raid content, you can set it up with gust and Good bird, but it’s massively outperformed by other flight types like Moltres and Yveltal. Additionally, Flying-type Pokemon have little use in raids since there aren’t many Bug or Fighting-type Pokemon to raid against. In either situation, you would typically use other counters, such as Psychic or Fire types.

How do I make the most of Starly Community Day?

During the Community Day event, XP gained from catching Pokémon will be tripled and Catch Candy will be doubled. You can use Lucky Eggs to increase your XP gains even further. Incense and Bait also last for three hours, so be sure to use these to increase your Starly spawns even more.

If you have the resources to evolve Aerodactyl, Pidgeot, Charizard (Y), Kangaskhan, or Lopunny Mega, you’ll also get an extra Starly Candy per catch due to bonuses to normal or flying tap.
