Star Wars Galaxies Legends is experiencing weekend crashes and downtime caused by a software vulnerability

The rogue server Star Wars Galaxies Legends had a very tough weekend. Last Friday, Omega’s main server suddenly went dark as a result of a “widespread vulnerability” in the software used to disrupt the game’s core services. First reports from the SWGL The team stated that no data loss appeared to have occurred due to the issue, while a follow-up published later that same Friday evening announced that there was minimal data loss, but not enough to warrant a server rollback force.
At the time, developers indicated they would have to delay bringing Omega back online to apply the latest security patches, but then another follow-up released on Saturday confirmed the downtime would need to be further extended as the Team decided to purchase and configure new hardware. “Some of our current hardware is nearing end of life and we want to make sure we have the latest hardware to support the Omega Galaxy,” the post explains.
As of this Sunday morning, the Omega server is still offline and there are no new announcements on the game’s website, forums, or Discord as we type this. However, the players on this discord seem to be taking it all with a good sense of humour. More details are expected as the situation evolves.
