Rafael Nadal turned his fortune around this year after a potentially career-threatening injury last year. The Spaniard even expressed doubts about his future in tennis and underwent foot surgery that kept him on the sidelines for the better half of last season.

But in a remarkable turn of events, Nadal is returning to his peak form and is currently on an unbeaten streak this year while also bagging 3 titles including a record 21st Grand Slam title at Grand Slam Australian Open.

However, the Spaniard was unlucky not to make it with a trophy as he won the in the final 2022 Indian Wells Masters to TaylorFritz. Fritz became the first American since Andre Agassi in 2001 to win the title at Indian Wells when the 24-year-old defeated Nadal 6-3, 7-6 (5).

The defeat also ended Nadal’s 20-game winning streak since the start of the season after winning the period including the three titles Australian Open 2022. Having already decided he would play Clay straight after Indian Wells, the Spaniard was looking to take home his 4th title of the season but it wasn’t his day.
