Sources – Growing optimism LeBron James could return to Los Angeles Lakers on Friday versus Boston Celtics

There is growing optimism that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James – who has been out for two weeks with a strain in the abdomen – can come back with Boston Celtics on Friday, sources told ESPN.

James is making good progress on his return and a meeting with the Celtics (7:30 PM, ESPN) on Friday is targeted for him to rejoin the Lakers squad.

Lakers coach Frank Vogel said 36-year-old James has begun returning to individual training in recent days.

James has missed nine games this season – including two with a sprained ankle – and the Lakers are desperate to get him back on track. Lakers begin Wednesday’s five-game trip in Milwaukee against Shove.

The Lakers are 8-7 and lose 121-103 next Monday Chicago Bulls at the Staples Center.
