A lucky Melbourne man was woken up Wednesday morning to learn he was $30 million richer after becoming the lone Division 1 Oz Lotto winner in Tuesday night’s drawing.
The South Melbourne man was sound asleep when he was woken up by a call from The Lott officers and admitted he wasn’t in the best of moods when he was woken up by the unexpected call before hearing the life-changing news.
“My brain doesn’t work very well in the morning. Sorry if I was grumpy when I replied,” he said.

“I was asleep, but now I’m awake.
“I’m going to cry. Thank you very much.”
The man told officers he usually played Powerball, but saw the Oz Lotto had $30 million up for grabs and decided to give it a try.
“I always felt that one day I would win – but I think everyone does,” he said.
“I have numbers that I’ve used for years – my special numbers. They eventually paid off, so I’m glad I stuck it out. These are the numbers of my favorite athletes.”
The man said he will try to use his newfound fortune wisely and will still be working in the meantime.
“You know what, I always said if I won something like that, I would take care of my parents first and then just try to be smart about it,” he said.
“My first inclination is to go insane, but I will be smart and set myself and my family up for the future.”
“I’ll still be working today and for now, but who knows what the future will bring now.”
The winning numbers for the 1503 Oz Lotto draw were: 2, 24, 34, 44, 5, 32, and 11, with the bonus numbers being 46, 20, and 39.
Thirteen people took home the Division Two prize of $29,833.
