At the end of March, Valve is doing changes to the way studios and publishers can offer their games at discounted prices on Steam, which sounds like a little administrative work is also a big deal. The financially savvy Steam game buyers among you might want to keep an eye out.

Published earlier this montha backend blog post named Change Discount Rules said that as of March 28, Valve will be “changing some discount rules”, with the main ones being the revised “discount period” period and removing the ability for developers to Developers and publishers “reduce product prices by more than 90%. or less than 10%. ”

While it’s easy to look at a move like the following and feel a bit unfair to users, any changes made are clearly being made to prevent those responsible for the Game prices — and we’re telling people from the tiniest scam to the biggest AAA publishers — from Steam’s algorithm not only plays games to make their releases stand out, but also trick users into thinking a sale is bigger than it actually is by artificially increasing the original price, before the discount.

The specifics of the changes are:

– You can run a launch discount, but once your launch sale ends, you cannot run any other sales for 28 days.

– Your product cannot be discounted for 28 days after the price increase in any currency.

– Discounts cannot be made within 28 days of your previous sale, except for seasonal events across Steam.

– Discounts on seasonal sale events cannot be made within 28 days of your title’s release, within 28 days of your launch sale ending, or within 28 days of on appreciation in any currency.

– You cannot change your price while a promotion is happening now or is scheduled for the future.

– Products cannot be discounted more than 90% or less than 10%.

– Custom discounts cannot last more than two weeks or shorter than 1 day.

Will this really work? Who knows! But it certainly looks sturdier on paper. Some of Steam’s Biggest (and Smallest) Sale Coming Soon
