surveillance 2‘s first new hero, Sojourn, introduces a railgun, a Canadian representation, and the game’s first playable black heroine. On Thursday, Blizzard Entertainment gave way over watch fans their first real taste of what else Sojourn will bring to the game, and how she’ll add to the still-growing list of over watch 2.
Sojourn joins the fight, armed with more than just a fast-firing railgun; She has a cool, rocket-powered gliding movement that makes her agile and difficult to hit in fights. She’s also armed with something called the Disruptor Shot – in the gameplay video teaser above, Sojourn uses this shot along with her Slide-powered Boost Jump to harass a group of enemies. Finally, we see her ultimate in action: Sojourn’s Overclock ability keeps her railgun charged, and charged shots will pierce through multiple enemies.
Here’s the official breakdown of Sojourn’s Ability Kit surveillance 2:
Primary Fire: Rapid-firing projectiles that generate energy on impact
Secondary Fire: High-impact shot that consumes stored energy
Floor slide that can resolve into a high jump
Fire an energy shot that slows and damages enemies within
Railgun energy automatically charges up for a short time, and charged shots pierce through enemies
Blizzard released a video Wednesday that dives deep into the story of Sojourn, revealing how Canadian Special Forces member Vivian Chase joined and left (and rejoined?) the heroes of Overwatch. surveillance 2 will enter closed beta testing on Windows PC on April 26th. Blizzard Entertainment announced in March that the company was “decoupling” surveillance 2PvE and PvP elements of to get the 2016 sequel over watch out earlier. surveillance 2 will bring new heroes, multiple hero reworks, new maps, a new game mode called Push, and a new ping system.
In November, Blizzard Entertainment announced that “a later launch is planned for surveillance 2 and Diablo IV than initially envisaged,” suggesting that the two titles, both announced in 2019, could slide to 2023. But with surveillance 2 Entering beta soon, it’s possible that Overwatch fans could get their sequel this year instead – at least the multiplayer PvP component of it. Blizzard hasn’t announced a release date for surveillance 2.
Publisher Activision Blizzard said in November it was giving the Overwatch team “additional time to complete production and continue to build their creative resources to support the titles post-launch,” citing Blizzard’s turbulence and sales as contributing to the longer than expected development of the game.
