SLR Productions’ Space Nova Animated Series Continues Mission Repeat

RETURN TO SPACE
Australia SLR productions has announced production of the second season of the award-winning original CGI animated series “space nova” to the ABC I. The 15 x 22 minute relay has received significant production funds from both Screen Australia and the Australian Foundation for Children’s Television and development funding from ABC ME and Create NSW. “Space Nova” is co-produced giggle garage distributed in Malaysia and internationally by ZDF studios, with ACTF representing the series in Australia and New Zealand. The first season was aimed at a worldwide audience aged six to ten and was sold to broadcasters or streamers in Germany, UK, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Poland, USA, Singapore, East Asia, Indonesia and Brazil.
SLR gives the logline as follows: “On the verge of their greatest mission ever – the journey to the incredible planet of Stardustian – the Novas’ ship is nearly destroyed, throwing them off course and stranding their new friend Ziggy in parts unknown. To find Ziggy and uncover a “universal imbalance,” the Novas must question everything they thought they knew about space: see the invisible, recognize the unknowable, and find the untraceable.”
THE LION’S LAST ROAR
ZeePlusthe co-production and development arm of India’s Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., announced “The lion’s last roar‘, as the latest co-production with the UK fairy tale smith. The series, to be distributed internationally by TVF, is currently in production and will be available in March 2023. The premium two-part documentary is shot in 4K and deals with the topic of lion protection. India is the only country outside of Africa where lions live wild, but their numbers have collapsed. Zee Plus and Talesmith were previously partners on Life of Earth: From Space and Life of Earth: The Age of Humans for Zee Entertainment and Smithsonian Networks.
GOLDEN HORSE AWARDS JURY
Filmmaker from Hong Kong Anna Hui will lead the jury that will decide the grand prizes over the next month Golden Horse Film Awards in Taiwan. The awards are widely regarded as the most prestigious annual awards in Chinese-language cinema. She is joined on the jury by actress Gwei Lun-mei, actor Chang Chen, director Cheng Wei-hao, producer Yeh Jufeng and cinematographer Yu Jing-pin. The nominations were recently announced. The award ceremony that marks the end Golden Horse Film Festival will be held in Taipei on November 19, 2022.

“The new abolitionists‘ a documentary by Christina Zorich, kicks off his Oscar qualifiers Friday at the Laemmle Monica Film Center in Santa Monica. The film follows Zorich’s journey as she follows dedicated abolitionists, Christian ministries and NGOs across Southeast Asia as they attempt to end human trafficking in Cambodia and Thailand. The film is presented as part of Kat Kramer’s Movies That Change the World, a selection of films and documentaries raising awareness of important societal issues, founded by Catherine Kramer.

Singapore’s Asia TV Forum and Market is to start two pitching sessions, one in partnership with the streamer Videofacing the Indonesian market, the other with Warner Bros. Discovery looking for drama concepts for the Thai market. The finalists of both pitches can pitch their ideas to industry veterans during the ATF (7-9 December 2022) at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center as part of the Singapore Media Festival (SMF). Infocomm Media Development Authority. The market has previously announced further pitching sessions on animation, formats, Chinese content and an IP accelerator.

That Singapore Tourism Association and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced a three-year partnership to collaborate on entertainment and lifestyle content, joint marketing and promotion of Singapore as a travel destination. Their letter of intent will include localized original stories spanning screenplay formats, drama series, animation and mini-documentaries. It will start with the HBO Asia Originals series.Food Affair with Mark Wiens.” Prior to the MoU, the two parties previously collaborated on international marketing for Crazy Rich Asians in 2018 and HBO’s Westworld Season 3 in Singapore in 2020.
STEVE JONES GOES BEYOND
Experienced television manager Steve Jones joined Beyond rights‘ London-based team to fill the newly created role of SVP of Development. His job is to come up with original ideas for reusable popular fact series that match the demand in the market. Jones has worked in the UK and Australia in a range of high profile roles including Editor and Executive Producer, Entertainment and Facts at Sky 1; Executive Producer, factual and factual entertainment at Discovery Networks Europe; Development Manager and Series Producer at CJZ Productions; and executive producer and development director at Endemol Southern Star. He also co-founded Big Little Fish TV 2019, the British indie he co-managed for more than two years.
