Skoda Octavia, Kamiq and Karoq offerings improve for 2023

Skoda Australia has announced it has delivered “renewed” a number of its models amid production crises that have previously plagued the company.

The local division of the Czech brand claims there are now examples of the Octavia liftback and wagon, the Kamiq small SUV and the Karoq SUV coming to dealerships, which can be ordered now.

Since August last year, Skoda has been forecasting a “full normalisation” of Australian deliveries from its European plants by the middle of the year.

The company has previously struggled to supply a number of its models due to semiconductor and component shortages. For these reasons, certain features will continue to be removed from Australian specification models.

Michael Irmer, Director of Skoda Australia, said: “Securing the supply of the brand’s core range is the news that customers have been waiting for”.

The local Skoda Octavia liftback and estate range currently consists of the Style and the RS after the entry-level ambition for 2023 was scrapped. The 140TSI Limited Edition is also currently not for sale.

The small SUV series Kamiq consists of the variants Style, Monte Carlo and Signature Edition. The Style is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, while the rest of the range is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Finally, the mid-range SUV Karoq consists of the Style, with its detachable Varioflex rear seats, as well as the Sportline, which is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive.

The automaker’s local arm is currently forecasting an all-time sales record for 2023 since the brand was launched here in its current form in 2007 – a combination of fulfilling existing orders and expanding its customer base.

While Skoda management would not confirm its internal sales target in January this year, company sources told us around 12,000 units is the target for calendar year 2023. The brand’s best year to date in Australia was 2021 when it recorded 9185 sales.

Additionally, Skoda Australia has confirmed that mid-life updates for the Scala, Octavia and Kamiq will arrive in 2024.

Production of the Australian-spec Enyaq iV and Enyaq iV Coupé electric SUVs will also begin next year. The first examples of this are expected to arrive in mid-2024.
