In our Best of 2022 campaign, we searched for St Helens’ best beer garden, and The Boathouse at Carr Mill Dam – now known as The Dam Bar and Grill – took first place.

The laid-back vibe at this spot is highly acclaimed by regulars, and dogs are always welcome.
One nominee said: “The Garden of Eden beer garden is great – TV, chilled music and outdoor heating for when it gets a bit chilly later on.

The beautiful view is a big draw for The Boathouse with thirsty customers paying a visit after a stroll around Carr Mill Dam.
