Silent Hill is announced while the website is toasting the pyramid head

A pyramid head appears in one of its many licensed forms in Death By Daylight.

Few games fuel fanatical speculation and conspiracy theories how silent Hill, and after years of wild guessing, Konami revealed it’s finally ready to announce later this week what’s next for the cult-favorite horror franchise. There’s even a new one silent Hill Website, because the old one still hints at a Pyramid Head shitpost by series artist Masahiro Ito earlier this year.

“Do you see this city in your restless dreams?” the new one silent Hill Twitter account posted on Sunday. “The latest updates for the SILENT HILL series will be released over the course of the #SILENT HILL Broadcast on Wednesday October 19 at 2:00 p.m. PDT.”

Announcements of announcements abound in games, but this one is making waves because the fans have been doing it wait almost a decade for the long dormant series to return. In fact, it’s been so long since Konami seems to have given up on the old silent Hill internet domain back in February. One fan apparently snapped it up immediately afterwards, turning the entire webpage into a single screenshot of Ito roasting his iconic Pyramid Head monster design. It was an enemy with a unique place in it Silent Hill 2‘s story yet overused in later games, eventually becoming the face of the series and a symbol of its excesses.

“I wish I hadn’t designed fxxkin Pyramid Head,” he said tweeted on February 20th. We’ve all been there.

Recently new silent Hill-thematic artwork by Ito May leaked, two years after teasing him, he was working on a brand new game. That was on top of an existing stack of rumors and reports that there were several silent Hill Projects in development including a possible remake of Silent Hill 2 through Bloober teamthe Polish horror studio behind it layers of fear and The medium. Another project titled Silent Hill: The Short Messagewas recently listed by the Korea Games Rating Agency.

Whatever Konami reveals later this week will face a mountain of fan expectations, fears and frustrations. The last time the promise of a new one silent Hill was dangling from the players’ hopeful faces when Solid metal gear‘s Hideo Kojima teamed up with film director Guillermo del Toro for a project called silent hills. It was teased with the horror demo ptwhich has since been immortalized by fans who continue to try to play it, even though Konami tried long ago to pull all traces of it out of orbit.

The desperation for a spiritual successor to this abandoned project came to a head last year when some fans convinced themselves Piece called indie vaporware Leave was indeed an elaborate facade for Kojima’s triumphant return to the silent Hill Universe. It wasn’t and the death stranding Director has since started teasing a completely separate game.
