23X1 racethe NASCAR outfit owned by NBA Legend Michael Jordan and Veterans JGR Cup driver Denny HamlinHe has announced an exciting newcomer for the 2024 season. The second Toyota team on the grid, beginning its NASCAR journey in 2021, has announced the signing of Tyler Reddickwho drives now No.: 8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 to the Richard Childress Racing and is widely viewed as a future superstar in the NASCAR community, will join them from the start of the 2024 season.

Tyler Reddick, who clinched his first Cup Series win in two race weekends at Road America, will have championship dreams in the 23X1 setup. The two-time champion of the Xfinity series with JR Motorsport and RCR will hope to position him better for the championship, something he has not managed to do with his two and a half year stint with the RCR team.

The 23X1 Racing Team currently hosts two riders on the grid, Bubba Wallace who has been driving the No:23 charter since 2021, and a veteran Kurt Busch who joined the team at the start of the 2022 season. Both drivers have given the team wins to date, with the first in 21 seasons coming from Wallace Talladega and a second from Busch this year Kansas.

It is not clear which of the two drivers will replace Tyler Reddick as both drivers are of value to the team from a business and sporting perspective. Bubba Wallace, who will be the only full-time African-American driver on the grid, offers plenty of business opportunity and he’s a handy driver when it comes to performance, although he’s certainly not championship material. Kurt Busch, on the other hand, has certainly seen his best days, but has a lot to offer the team with his experience and skills.

Tyler Reddick opened his heart leaving RCR and joining 23X1 in 2024 when he announced his joining the team. Reddick conceded that RCR gave him the first opportunity in the Cup Series and it’s been great growing with them, which is why they have decided to stay at RCR for one more season to finish what they started together . He added that he was very grateful to RCR for the opportunity they gave him in both Xfinity and the Cup and will continue to be grateful to them in the future.

With RCR I had my first opportunity in a cup car with Richard and this team and it’s been great to grow with them. For me it was really important to finish what I started there, to finish it, to finish it. And you know like they said they gave me so many opportunities to be a two time Xfinity Champion, gave me the door to get into the Cup Series and for that I am very grateful and will continue to do it and then‘ said Tyler Reddick.

Tyler Reddick says he will be up against the 23X1 Racing Team and Denny Hamlin, who was by his side in the announcement leading up to the 2024 season with RCR. He added that he wouldn’t say the news comes as a shock to the RCR team as they know in advance that they will be controlling what the future holds for them for some time.

Building on that I wanted to see what I had agreed with RCR by the end and play as hard as I could for them and against Denny and 2311 until then. With today’s news you know we know where I am going to be in 2024 and onwards. I wouldn’t say this was quite, it shouldn’t have been a total shock to RCR you know when we were looking at what the future would be like a while backadded Tyler Reddick.

Tyler Reddick went on to explain his decision, saying that discussions and negotiations over his future have been going on for a number of months and the team is aware of the offers that have come in for him. Tyler Reddick added that now that the information about his move is out there, it’s time to work out together what future would be best for all three parties involved.

You know we said that after the option expired in 23 and 24 and you know we were unsure about going back a while ago that we were going to find out what was ahead… But you know it’s out there and everyone has the information now and now we’re all going to figure out what to do from here,‘ said Tyler Reddick.
