Shoppers photographed without shoes at Woolworths supermarket, sparking a backlash on Facebook

The man in question is wearing shorts, an undershirt – and no shoes.
In his Facebook post, the buyer said he was horrified to see the man was barefoot.
“Is there a lack of shoes in Australia?” asked the buyer. “How is that acceptable on a building site, Woolworths?”
The post sparked an angry reaction, with many defending the shoeless shopper.
“How does that affect you? He doesn’t wipe his feet on the fresh produce,” said one.
Another wrote: “Why does it matter to you? If he wants to run barefoot and risk injury, that’s definitely up to him.”
A third added: “Well he doesn’t put his feet on the food does he?”
Another said: “Are you wearing shoes? If so, why does it matter that he likes walking in other people’s dirt?”
Others were baffled at how the buyer mistook Woolworths for a “job”, adding that it’s not “the supermarket’s responsibility what its customers wear”.
“How the hell is that a ‘job’?” asked one. “He shops, not mason, you melt.”
Adding another: “It’s a supermarket, not a construction site.”
A third said: “How does this affect you in any way? Also, I bet the staff don’t go around looking at everyone’s feet to make sure they’re wearing shoes.”
