Five people have been charged in relation to shot dead a Texas corporal in Houston last weekend, officials announced Friday.
Oscar Rosales, 51, is accused of murdering District 5 Cpl Harris County. Charles Galloway early on Sunday.
Four other people arrested in the case have been charged with aiding Rosales after the shooting, Houston police said Friday.
Galloway was shot dead shortly around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after he hit a white Toyota Avalon. The driver got out with the rifle and opened fire on his patrol vehicle, shooting through its windshield, according to court documents.
Rosales, whose arrest was announced earlier this week, is arrested Wednesday in Mexico, across the border from Del Rio, Texas. Officials said he has been charged with murder.
A judge ordered him to be held without bond on Friday.
Henri Mauricio Pereira Marquez, 42, and Reina Azucena Pereira Marquez, 40, were charged with tampering with evidence, police said. They are said to have removed items from the vehicle involved in the shooting and cleaned it.
Police said Jose Santos Gutierrez Cruz, 68, and Jose Romel Hernandez Cruz, 43, were charged with obstructing prosecution.
Online court records do not appear to show cases for Henri Mauricio Pereira Marquez, Gutierrez Cruz or Hernandez Cruz on Friday night. It is not clear if they have an attorney who can speak on their behalf.
Contact information for Reina Azucena’s attorney Pereira Marquez could not be found on Friday night. A public defender listed in her case did not immediately respond to a message early Saturday.
Reina Azucena Pereira Marquez is Rosales’s common-law wife, and Henri Mauricio Pereira Marquez is her brother, according to court documents.
