Two beaches on the NSW Central Coast have been closed after a young surfer was bitten by a shark.
The teenage surfer was bitten around 10.30am on Wednesday, the Central Coast Council confirmed.
Avoca and North Avoca beaches were both closed.

“Our thoughts are with the young surfer affected,” the council tweeted.
“Please avoid both beaches at this time until the incident can be further investigated.”
NSW Ambulance also confirmed the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
“Earlier this morning we responded to a shark bite off North Avoca Beach and treated a teenager for injuries to his hand,” it tweeted.
“He was taken to Gosford Hospital.”
