“Shaq created a HOOKAH LOUNGE in the studio” Kenny Smith revealed Shaquille O’Neal’s unprofessional behavior in the early days of the NBA on the set of TNT

Los Angeles Lakers legend and multiple NBA champion, Shaquille O’Neal is known for living life to the fullest. As one of the most famous Hall of Famers, Shaq certainly knew how to have fun, whether it was at a beach party, at the gym, or maybe even on the set of the NBA on TNT. In the same note, his co-host Kenny Smith revealed how deeply disturbing Shaq’s behavior was on the TNT set in the early days of his NBA.
Given that NBA on TNT is one of the most talked about talk shows in the world of basketball, the co-hosts are always at each other’s throats. But in Shaquille O’Neal’s early days, he may have taken things far too lightly as he wanted to do things with his own style.
Shaquille O’Neal and his personality that surpasses the life of a king
Now, to get everyone on the same page, there’s a very fine line between having fun and coming across as idiotic, and the TNT show walks that line beautifully. Nonetheless, having strong personalities like Shaq and Chuck on the show isn’t an easy feat, considering they have a habit of getting carried away or going overboard. It’s safe to say that it looks like the people involved brought Shaq on board with a lot of aches and pains.
“We’re the only show on TV that’s listening,” the Rockets veteran said. Shaquille O’Neal didn’t listen at first until he realized we were listening. In all honesty, he was terrible in his first six months on the show. And two things happened that made him great. I went up to him first and I was like, ‘Bro, the stories you tell in the green room are bananas. The stuff you say about Kobe (Bryant) and you gotta bring that with you. The other thing is, for the first time in your life, you’re not the most dominant player, so we might be better at that than you. So just be you.”
Smith continued to reveal instances of Shaq doing Shaq-like things.
“He (Shaq) created a hookah lounge in the studio and they let him do it. He was like, ‘I have to have my hookah.’ And then he has an entourage. Now he doesn’t watch the game, he literally puts on DJ gear, he practices his DJ while the game is on.”
