Sergio Perez was second best behind Max Verstappen this season and also had a difficult time in the last races before the current summer break.
Despite all the setbacks Sergio Perez has suffered this season, he is still having the most successful season of his F1 career and has also signed a new two-year deal with the Red Bull team.
The 2022 Formula 1 season is 13 races behind and after all the nerve-wracking scramble on track, Perez is currently third in the Drivers’ Championship and has Charles Leclerc within reach, just 5 points ahead of him.
The Mexican firmly believes that he can become Formula 1 world champion and beat his extremely successful teammate Max Verstappen. While stressing about it, Perez said: “If everything fits and I drive perfectly, I can beat anyone in Formula 1.”
Sergio Perez has been in the sport for a long time and firmly believes that with the right machinery and use of his skills, he can beat anyone in the sport.

Sergio Perez has so far praised Max Verstappen for his 2022 season
Max Verstappen is driving like an absolute monster this season and has already won 8 of the 13 races. Furthermore, Sergio Perez has also acknowledged Verstappen’s superhuman abilities, saying while speaking about competing with the Dutchman for the title: “Max has incredible qualities, is very mature for his age and has a very good feeling for the car.”
“So the question isn’t if I can beat him in one weekend, it’s how many races I can finish ahead of him. It’s about consistency. That’s what makes a champion.”
The 32-year-old has left no stone unturned to praise Verstappen and has also said kind things about the Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull team.
Perez added: “I’m on the best team in the world. The amount of knowledge and talent that comes together here is incredible and in Max I have an absolutely world-class driver as my team-mate.”
The Mexican is delighted to extend his association with the Red Bull squad and is confident that the coming years will be all about winning as a team and celebrating successes together.
Red Bull have one of the strongest driver pairings in the sport and now that Perez has also settled behind the wheel of his car, the future looks bright for the energy drink team.
