Second Life’s original founder rejoins the project to create the ultimate metaverse

I swear, every time I have to write the word “metaverse” these days, a part of my soul dies and my eyes get a little blurry. It’s hard to deny that this buzzword is everywhere – even if no one completely know or understand its meaning.
If your definition of the metaverse is an expanding and ever-evolving immersive virtual world, then Second life wanted to point out that it’s already done this – and it’s about to do more. Former Linden Lab director Philip Rosedale rejoined the project as a “strategic advisor,” lending his efforts to creating a more synthetic model. Second life even though slightly criticized the concept just a month ago. Rosedale selling resources from his VR company to help learn more about the causes of metaversocity.
“It’s like a merger,” Rosedale said in an interview. “Most of our people, some of our money and metaverse related patents are moving in.”
Second life sees over 1.6 million transactions and 1.8 million messages taking place monthly.
“We are delighted to have Philip mentor us and continue to lead the metaverse conversation,” said Linden Lab Executive President Brad Oberwager. “It’s a special moment right now. And you really just need history and leadership and you need a moral compass.”
