It looks like UFC fans are about to witness an immensely significant non-title fight for the future of the middleweight title fight Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira will officially fight each other at the end of July. Since Strickland’s move from welterweight to middleweight, the Xtreme couture Produkt is on a six-fight win streak, with victories over the likes of Jack Hermansson, Uriah Hall and many more.
Best known for his legendary status as a notable kickboxer, Pereira is the man responsible for defeating the current UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya back during the champ’s days as a kickboxer. So far, Pereira is 5-1 in his entire MMA career with 4 wins coming from knockout games. Pereira is looking forward to moving up the middleweight rankings as soon as possible so he can snag the middleweight title whether there is Adesanya or not when he reaches the top.
Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira – a potential battle of 2 of the best middleweight forwards
ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto reported on his Twitter handle “Super interesting matchup in the works for UFC 277 on July 30th … Sean Strickland vs. Alex Pereira is verbally agreed, per source. Has the look of an all-action on-foot combat. No official location for this map yet.”
The fight will most likely stay on its feet as both Strickland and Pereira have their strengths in hitting the most. Strickland is a basic boxer with great defense while Pereira is a versatile kickboxer with hands full of ko-power and sneaky but vicious knee attacks.
What do you think of this matchup? Between these two top prospects, who do you think wins? Do you think Pereira will overrun Strickland like all his previous opponents or will Strickland be Pereira’s first bitter learning experience? Do you think this fight has any chance of going down?
