Sean Brady: ‘I just sucked the whole fight’ against Michael Chiesa

Earlier this week, Sean Brady went to the doctor to fix a difficult career problem: His nose.

“It’s something I have to deal with now so it’s not going to be an issue in the future,” the undefeated weight class said Monday. Time MMA.

Sporting a slightly curved beak, Brady announced his win over Michael Chiesa at UFC Vegas 43 good enough to get him a big jump in the weight chart. After struggling to get competitors in the top 15, it’s a welcome opportunity. But he’s not excited about his performance, and considering the physical challenges he’s faced, it’s no surprise he’s not at his best.

“I just drained the entire battle,” Brady said. “I want to do more and show more, because I’ve been out for a while, I’ve had two canceled matches and an injury. I just want to show more of who I am. ”

Brady has broken his nose “many times” since becoming a boxer. That’s no great feat for anyone who spends enough time in the gym, but in his case it was more than a minor annoyance. Sometimes, big hits just don’t make the mark. Others, just a little tweak will create a blood faucet.

This past Saturday, it was the second time after Chiesa soon shot him in the nose. After his first knockdown, he and the UFC commentators realized there was an injury.

“I looked at his back, and there was a lot of blood on his back,” Brady said. “God, it was pretty bad. It’s running down my throat. So I’m trying to breathe, and while I’m breathing, I’m sucking blood.”

Even so, Brady and Chiesa managed to have a chat in the middle of the war.

An X-ray will determine the extent of the damage, and then he’ll do a procedure to straighten his nose and make sure it doesn’t bleed a lot in the future, Brady said. In the meantime, he just had to “improvise” in front of Chiesa.

“I’m the hardest critic and I just want to make the best of everything,” says Brady.

But in the end, it’s still worth it. When the UFC rankings are announced next, he will definitely be on the list. Welterweight star Khamzat Chimaev suggested a fight. There are more options than before, and it’s worth eating some plasma.
