MLB super agent Scott Boras could really help the Houston Astros keep Carlos Correa, despite the lack of talks so far in free agency.
Correa is tired of waiting, despite the fact that we were in the middle of an MLB lockdown, and therefore hired Boras. Thankfully for Correa, Boras has a history of earning lucrative contracts for its clients. It’s just the way he runs his business.
Because Boras is one of the most popular dealers in the sport, owners often don’t react positively to their players hiring him. However, Boras has nothing but positive things to say about Astros.
“The Astros, when you look at them, they have three or four young pitchers, but they also have six potential players in great positions, all relatively young,” Boras said. “So it’s an organization that’s been at championship level for three or four years and can still continue for six or seven years if they can retain the real core talent at the All-Star level. that they already own.”
Carlos Correa Rumor: Will Scott Boras Hire the Astros?
Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman are also Boras clients, so familiarity with Jim Crane can only help with future problems.
The Astros’ offers to Correa have so far been disproportionate. Houston’s latest effort is for five years and $160 million, which Correa might take as an insult for what he’s asking for. Correa wants to double the number of years and slightly higher AAV. $330 million isn’t a huge change, but signing on for a brief decade nearing the age of 30 isn’t ideal either.
“There are always owners willing to make the best business decision, one that they will always keep in mind,” says Boras. “I can think back to my history in the game doing things where there were times when they didn’t know what they were thinking at first, but as time went on, they realized, ‘I didn’t get the chance to come up with these ideas. decisions like this could be in my ownership history or maybe in a decade and i want to take every opportunity to get something that i know may not be (always) available. ‘”
For Crane and the Astros, that opportunity could come shortly after the course is over, despite initial thoughts that recruiting Boras would put them out of Correa’s hunt altogether.
