San Diego Padres signs RHP Nick Martinez to a 4-year, $20 million deal

NS San Diego Padres and right-hand man Nick Martinez have agreed on a four-year, $20 million deal, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Martinez’s agreement includes an opt-out after his first and second years.

Martinez, 31, who spent four seasons in Japan and starred for this year’s Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, posted an ERA of 1.62. He previously played four seasons in the major leagues, all with Texas Rangers from 2014-17 and increased 17-30 with an ERA of 4.77.

Martinez also won a silver medal while playing for Team America at the Tokyo Olympics.
