Said Sowma wants to recover with “Floor Finish”.

Said Sowma takes on Gokhan Saricam on August 12 at the Bellator 284.
Said Sowma is number 10 Bellator heavyweight and he’s trying to recover from a loss in his last fight. Sowma lost a close decision against Davion Franklin in 9th place. Six months later, the American top team product returns on August 12th in the Bellator 284 against Gokhan Saricam.
Sowma joined Bellator in 2020 hoping to become their heavyweight champion. After losing his debut against Tyrell Fortune, the 30-year-old drew attention in the division with wins against Ronny Markes Vitaly Minakov.
With Franklin’s past defeat, Sowma is looking to get back on track against the Turkish heavyweight, who have won three fights in a row.
“I’m trying to keep an open mind,” Sowma told FanSided. “I see a takedown. Someone will be down. I actually have a feeling he would even try to trip me, but I don’t think he knows the jiu-jitsu game is there, so I predict a takedown and a ground finish. Either ground and crushed or submission.”
Said Sowma wants a rematch against Davion Franklin in the future
Sowma’s last fight ended his two-fight winning streak when he lost to Franklin by split decision (30-27, 29-28 and 28-29). Despite the disappointing loss, Sowma believes he will fight Franklin again in the future.
“I still want my own revenge one day,” Sowma said when asked if teammate Marcelo Golm defeated Franklin. “Yes, across the board. Not now. There’s no reason to fight now. Let’s both become bigger names, climb the ladder, maybe one of us will have the belt.”
For now, Sowma is focused on beating Saricam at Bellator 284. Saricam has a pro MMA record of 7-1, with his only loss to Steve Mowry. With a win over Saricam, Sowma will be back on track to become the Bellator Heavyweight Champion.
