Nebraska police believe a woman found dead at her home Friday morning was killed in a murder suicide by her ex-husband.
Issued by the Nebraska State Patrol a press release They said they spotted the 45-year-old Angie Millers Dead body around 1:45am on Friday May 13, 2022 after local police in the small town of Broken Bow called for help over an apparent murder.
Details are currently rare. There was no evidence of how the victim died. There was also public speculation about a motive.
According to the Lincoln Journal StarCiting court records, Angie Miller filed for divorce in April 2019. A Custer County judge approved the divorce in February 2020.
The couple had three children together.
According to the Associated PressThey were married about 23 years.
Police believe the deadly violence happened overnight. Investigators said they developed rapidly Ryan Miller47, as a suspect.
“Investigators learned of a location near Anselmo that Ryan Miller frequented,” the NSP noted. “About 4:45 a.m., officers found Miller in a pasture at this location near Anselmo. Miller was found deceased from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
According to North Platte, Neb.-based NBC affiliate KSOPAngie Miller worked as a school counselor at North Park Elementary School in Broken Bow. She herself was a graduate of the Broken Bow public school system and received her college degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
“Because of our close school community, this death touches everyone at our school,” said the Superintendent of Broken Bow Public Schools Darren Tobey said in a statement from Kearney, Neb.-based ABC subsidiary KHGI.
“When an adult who is close to a child dies, children react in many different ways,” Tobey continued. “Please monitor your children for changes such as physical – changes in sleeping patterns or eating habits, emotional – changes such as unusual fears, anger, concerns about clinging behaviors towards parents, and social changes – loss of interest in usual activities.” “
Miller was also a student at the time of her death.
Miller majored in elementary school counseling, noted UNK in a press release. She was due to graduate this Friday with a Masters of Science in Education. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the UNK in 2000 and her master of arts in education in 2008.
“The UNK family sends its condolences,” the school said in a statement. “Our hearts are with her family and friends. We share your sadness. Angie Miller will be missed and will be remembered for a long time.”
The university also offers counseling services for “individuals who want to speak to someone”.
According to the NSP, their investigation into the alleged murder-suicide is “ongoing” and is being conducted in coordination with the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and the Broken Bow Police Department.
Numerous murder-suicides have emerged nationwide during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just last month, such incidents occurred in at least three different states: Ohio, Virginiaand North Carolina.
