Ryan Day gets a well-deserved raise

After winning the Rose Bowl last season, 48-45 against the Utah Utes, Ohio State gave Ryan Day a well-deserved raise.

Day and the Buckeyes have seemingly been in the college football playoff talk every year since he took over full-time in 2019.

The young coach has yet to win a national championship, which is certainly the Buckeyes’ ultimate goal, but he has twice led OSU to the playoffs. In 2019 Ohio State lost to Clemson in the semifinals and in 2020 they were defeated by Alabama in the National Title Game.

Nonetheless, Day has shown plenty of promise and routinely dominates the Big Ten. Thanks to players like CJ Stroud and a talented group of upper class players, they will win the conference again next season.

Ryan Day contract: how much does Ohio state pay him?

Day will earn $9.5 million in 2022 – that’s a $2 million raise coupled with a two-year contract extension. His deal now runs until 2028.

With the raise, Day’s Deal is now on par with the likes of Michigan State’s Mel Tucker. Tucker’s contract shocked college football from the start, as he’s not considered in the same league as Day, Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban.

Who is the highest paid coach in college football?

The highest-paid coach in college football is Lincoln Riley, closely followed by Nick Saban.

Riley received a hefty $10 million AAV from Southern Cal to leave Oklahoma and had a hard time saying no. Saban, meanwhile, deserves every penny of his $9.9 million salary given his longevity and yearly dominance of the sport itself.
