Rottnest Island is getting a new booking system after a series of major mishaps

Hopefully for holidaymakers looking to book accommodation on Rottnest Island, technical disruptions will be a thing of the past.
That’s because a new online portal called Stay Rottnest has been launched.
Whether it can withstand the significant demand, which has proved too much in the past, will be known very soon as the site will start taking bookings from 8.30am on Wednesday.

“We are pleased to announce some major improvements to Rottnest Island accommodation booking with a new look and new name,” the website reads.
“The new Stay Rottnest website gives you access to the largest selection of options on the island including spacious self-contained units, campsites, hostels and dorms.
“You can easily search for island locations and check availability based on flexible travel dates.”
It’s a recent update considering previous tech glitches and crashes left travelers frustrated and unable to book.
In June, those looking for limited accommodation places for the end of the current summer were faced with an alert saying a “significant technical” situation was unfolding.
A similar problem caused the site to crash in April, a disaster for those planning to spend Christmas on the island off the coast of Perth.
In the 2018/19 financial year, the island, which is synonymous with quokkas, saw a record 785,000 visitors.
