Ron Rivera’s workout clothes are a heartwarming stand for Brian Robinson

Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera wore an orange shirt at a news conference to raise awareness for victims of gun violence, including running back Brian Robinson Jr.

On Sunday, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. was shot in an attempted carjacking robbery. Head coach Ron Rivera had his back.

On Monday, the Commanders trainer held a press conference and wore an orange shirt, a sign he is raising awareness of gun violence. This shows that while Rivera can be a harsh disciplinarian as a coach, he is someone who has his players’ backs both on and off the field. Also, Rivera visited Robinson in the hospital.

More importantly, raising awareness of a cause that matters while showing support for someone who could have lost their life if things had gone horribly wrong is a more meaningful mark of respect. Although Robinson had surgery and Posted that everything will be fine, his football career is the lowest priority; it’s about his recovery from injuries to his buttocks and lower legs.

Brian Robinson Jr., a third-round pick from Alabama last April, was drafted to give Ron Rivera and the Washington Commanders a run-game boost. Robinson had 1,343 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns last season and helped the Crimson Tide reach the national title game, losing 33-18 to the Georgia Bulldogs. In two preseason games, Robinson has carried the ball 14 times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Many of Robinson’s current teammates, including wide receiver Terry McLaurin, to ESPN and Yahoo Sports that practice in dealing with these messages takes a toll as you know very well what could possibly have happened.

“We’ve learned to take our time and appreciate what’s going on, and you can’t just fly over it and walk past it,” McLaurin said on ESPN. “We are human and it affects our psyche. It shakes up your whole day when things like [Robinson’s situation] happen, but we also understand that we still have to do our job and come out and practice hard and prepare.

Robinson will no doubt be on the minds of his teammates as they prepare for the regular season. Team cuts are Tuesday, and Robinson will likely be on the roster and return to injured reserve. But again, that’s the least of your worries. We hope he makes a full recovery and congratulations to Ron Rivera for raising awareness of the issue while supporting his players.
