Jurors convicted California of orchestrating a murder plot against a doctor who treated his wife.
Robert Elmo Lee83, convicted on Thursday of first degree murder with special circumstances murder for financial gain. Prosecutors said he had a 67-year-old Lodi podiatrist, Dr. Thomas Shock was killed in August 2018.
Co-defendant Mallory Stewart pleaded guilty to being a first-degree shooter with an enhanced weapon. Christopher Costello and getaway driver Raymond Jacquett IV were also convicted for their respective roles in the murders.
Authorities previously said they had found a single page from California Health Commission documents near Shock’s body at his Lodi home, according to a statement. KCRA. Costello’s fingerprinted document, relating to Robert’s wife Bonnie Lee—Identified by her initials — would make Shock an ingrown toenail patient in 2014. She lost part of her foot and died of an infection in 2016. Authorities said it wasn’t clear if Shock’s treatment had anything to do with Bonnie’s death, but a friend of Robert said Robert blamed Shock.
When searching Lee’s home, authorities said they discovered other pages of medical board documents.

Tori Verber Salazar in a statement on Thursday. “I also thank the dedicated Lodi Police Department detectives for their thorough investigative work and the Sierra Brucia Police Chief for his unparalleled leadership. The conclusion of this case sends a clear message that my office will hold those who harm members of our community accountable to the full extent of the law. ”
Robert Lee’s sentencing date is set for May 16.
