Riot Games intends to boost champion durability in League of Legends update 12.10

League of Legends is scheduled to receive its 12.9 patch next Wednesday, but designers are already exchanging thoughts on the 12.10 update, which will follow a week later on May 18th. One key thing the Summoners Rift team wants to focus on this patch, according to a blog post today, is optimizing the “time to kill” in games, specifically increasing champion durability across the board.
League can be a pretty fast-paced game, with attacks flying back and forth and champions kicking the bucket in record time. It’s long been part of its appeal, offering high-octane thrills and satisfying clutch moments, but according to the team, “developers and players alike agree – there’s too much damage in League right now.” In other words, characters are dying a little too quickly, so the decision was made to improve health, armor and resistance for each individual champion.
No doubt some fans – particularly those who have been vocal about their favorite character being buffed or nerfed whenever it happens – will be unhappy with the choice, but the developers feel the change will give players “more opportunities to counterplay and act out their… Highs will be moments.” They also ensure that other changes are made to account for the knock-on effects of the durability increase, including reducing stamina, adjusting certain variables, and observing burst champions to make sure they are This will not weaken the update too much.
