“Dual,” the latest film from director Riley Stearns and starring Karen Gillan and Aaron Paul, has sold the rights in the United States to RLJE Films, a division of AMC Networks, for a settlement low to medium seven figures.
The film has been screened in American Dramatic competition outside of Sundance, and RLJE Films is planning a theatrical release in late 2022.
XYZ Films, CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group closed the deal with RLJE Films on Monday night in a competitive bidding situation. XYZ is also handling world rights outside the US
Stearns directed and produced “Dual” with XYZ Films and Resolute Films and Entertainment, with Film Service Finland providing production services.
Gillan stars in “Dual” as a woman who receives a terminal diagnosis and chooses to pursue a cloning procedure to ease the loss of friends and family upon her death. “Dual” marks the latest film in partnership with XYZ, producer Lee Kim and his Resolute Films and Entertainment, recently joined.oa first look deal with XYZ. XYZ Films previously collaborated with RLJE Films on Nicolas Cage’s “Mandy”.
XYZ has funded “Dual” through its fund backed by Helsinki IPR.VC in partnership with Bondit Media Capital and Head Gear Films. The film also received support from Business Finland and Film Tampere and marked the first Hollywood production to be shot entirely in Finland.
