Riders of Icarus pretends that the P2E crypto pivot never happened while releasing the Magmapora patch and roadmap

Valofes Rider of Icarus has been a rollercoaster of chaos over the last few years. It had already fallen out of most MMO players’ minds when Nexon transferred publishing rights to Valofe in 2019 after its 1M starting player count dwindled, and then in 2022 Valofe stunned its remaining player base by abandoning it Anti-RMT policy and the announcement of a “play-to-earn” game loaded with NFTs and crypto tokens that almost immediately collapsed worthless.
So it might surprise you to learn that the game is still alive and still receiving updates. In fact, this week’s update is big: it includes a new map called “Vulcano.” Magmapora, new quests, a new dungeon, new equipment and new mounts. Valofe released a batch of screenshots, social media teasers, several videos, a press release… we’re amazed. There’s even a heck of a roadmap, as there’s apparently even more to the October release.
As for the crypto pivot: the token of the game is no longer listed on Wemix at all, and there’s nothing mentioned about P2E in the patch notes or forums. Valofe seems to have simply put the whole ordeal behind him as if nothing had happened.
