Ricky Gervais hopes to be canceled with next comedy special

Gervais ricky, comedy special, canceled

Ricky Gervais is not a tongue biter and we love him for it because it always brings a good laugh. As he plans his next comedy special, Gervais treats it like it will be his last because he thinks the content of the special will interest him. ‘Canceled.’

In a conversation with “Heat Magazine”, via The New York PostGervais talks about his next comedy special, aptly called Apocalypseand he said he would push the boundaries of what could be toyed with and not only did he think it would cause a backlash, he accepted it:

“One thing I’ve definitely decided to do and can’t wait to start over is my new indie show. I’m treating it like it’s my last. It won’t be, but I want to put everything in there. I wanted to try and was cancelled. No, I just want to go all out there.”

The comedian went on to add, “[Armageddon] is about the end of the world and how we will destroy ourselves for a variety of reasons, whether it’s media stupidity, or the real apocalypse… There’s no topic you shouldn’t joke about. It depends on the joke. As a journalist, there’s nothing you don’t write about. It depends on your angle, right? I think a lot of this pious offense comes from people mistaking the target of the joke for the subject. You can joke about anything, but it depends on what the actual goal is. If you use sarcasm and people see it at face value and think you’re saying one thing, you’re actually saying the opposite. “

Stand-up comedy has been a sensitive topic when it comes to canceling culture. Many comics have found that venturing into certain topics for material can have big consequences, and one of the most famous recent examples is Dave Chappelle and the specials. on his Netflix. He asked those situations which barely hurt but it really comes down to who is talking and what has been said. It will be interesting to see how Ricky Gervais navigates this.
