Report: Scott Mellanby resigns as GM Canada

As first reported by Andy Strickland of Bally Sports Midwest, former NHL forward Scott Mellanby has stepped down as assistant general manager of the Montreal Canadaiens.
Mellanby, who has played more than 1,400 games with five teams in his career, served as the team’s assistant GM since 2015-16. He previously worked with Canada as player personnel director for two years following various roles with Vancouver and St. Louis from 2008-12.
The news also comes after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Canadaiens had been granted permission to speak with former New York Rangers GM Jeff Gorton about a position with the organization.
