Reese Witherspoon announces devastating family news

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth have announced their divorce after more than a decade of marriage.

The couple released a joint statement on Saturday, calling the split “a difficult decision.”

“We made the difficult decision to divorce with a lot of thought and thought,” Witherspoon said in the statement posted to Instagram.

“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and move forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all we have created together.

“Our number one priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and very personal.

“We really appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

Witherspoon’s marriage to Toth – an actor, producer and talent agent – lasted nearly 12 years.

They sold their English country-style mansion for $21.5 million in 2020, according to Architectural Digest.

In addition to raising two children – Ava and Deacon – from Witherspoon’s previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe, the pair also share a son together, Tennessee James Toth.

Witherspoon tells Harper’s BAZAAR that Toth influenced her decision to start a production company: “He said, ‘You should produce films. You read more books than anyone I know. You should just buy some of them and film them.”

Despite their split, Witherspoon previously told the outlet that they had enjoyed their marriage together and were happy to be working with someone who supported and valued them.
