Red Bull advisor talks to Mercedes ahead of Saudi GP

Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko is confident that Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton can no longer repeat their success in Qatar on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Sharing his analysis before the race, Helmut Marko said that based on what a Formula 1 track designer had told him, he had come to the conclusion that the Saudi GP would “be depends” mainly on “tyre performance”.

Marko suggests that with that in mind, the fight will boil down to pure “speed”, something he doesn’t see Mercedes and Hamilton possess.

“Saudi Arabia is called Mercedes business, but how often does something like this appear this year? We just need to win there,” Marko calculated through Give me sports.

“What I hear from Hermann Tilke, the designer of the track, is that they have fast sweep speeds, but they are not perfectly straight lines,” he continued. “A lot will depend on the performance of the tyres, as we saw in Qatar. Mercedes no longer excels in top speed”.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, hopes the Jeddah Corniche Circuit will back them up. He also revealed that the team will pull out a “spicy device” that they didn’t use in the previous race.

“Saudi Arabia should be a good direction for us, but we know this year when you think it’s a good tournament, it can turn things around,” Wolff said via Mirror. “But it will be a long time before we bring our tear gas to Saudi Arabia, which we do not use. [in Qatar] and hope Valtteri [Bottas] Right up there, we need him.
