The latest in the Outlast horror series will be playable this Halloween, but only in closed beta form. Developer Red Barrels announced an upcoming beta during Tuesday’s Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation – but sadly no full release date for its new cooperative horror game.
Outlast fans get a taste for it The Outlast exams from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, Red Barrels said. The studio didn’t explain how players can get into the beta test, which appears to be for the Windows PC version of the game via Steam, but urged fans to stay tuned.
The Outlast exams brings co-op multiplayer to the series for the first time. The game’s main Cold War-era story can be played in cooperative mode with up to four players, all trying to survive a series of brutal and strange experiments after being kidnapped by a mysterious entity known as the Murkoff Corporation.
Red barrels announced The Outlast examsthe third game in the series, in 2019. The original Survive first appeared on the PlayStation 4 in 2013 outlast 2 come out a few years later, in 2017. Although this is the third Outlast game, developer Red Barrels has said in the past that this is not the case outlast 3a direct sequel planned to eventually do.
