Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale is set to leave the club this summer; A quick look at his Los Blancos career before signing off

Real Madrid striker Bale

Real Madrid will bid farewell to Wales international Gareth Bale at the end of this season as he ended his last game on the bench.

He was a mere spectator in the last match against Real Betis after being called into the squad but unfortunately couldn’t make the final appearance. Carlo Ancelotti opted not to choose him as the team’s replacement one last time as it was a sad farewell for the Welshman.

Gareth Bale will have one last game in hand to return to the pitch as Real Madrid face Liverpool in next week’s Champions League final in what could be his farewell game.

Despite playing just 16 minutes in Madrid’s last 14 games in all competitions, Bale will be available for the final against Liverpool in Paris as he looks to equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s record five UCL finals.

Gareth Bale scored two brilliant goals against the same opponents in the 2017/18 Champions League final with a superb overhead kick that repeated Ronaldo’s goal from the semi-final against Juventus the same year.

Bale won Man of the Match in the UCL Finals and earned his 4th UCL glory. Despite less chance of playing in the UCL finals, Bale would aim to equal Ronaldo’s goal record in three UCL finals.

Gareth Bale signed for the Spanish side from Tottenham in 2013 when the Welshman received the then-world-record transfer fee of £85.3million that put him above Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since wearing the No.11 shirt for Los Blancos since arriving at the Bernabeu, he has made 256 appearances in total, scoring 106 goals and winning 18 trophies for the club. He has also made 67 assists and won several trophies for the club during his tenure.

Gareth Bale scored in the Copa Del Ray final against Barcelona and in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, lifting both trophies in his debut season. He was part of the trio known as the BBC, which included Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo and they combined to score 97 goals in his debut season. He won 4 UCL trophies with the Los Blancos side and three La Liga trophies including this season’s win.
