Ranking: Is an overlay map essential in OARPGs?

Is an overlay map critical to your experience with OARPGs? Blizzard doesn’t seem to think so, as they have no plans to implement one Diablo IV despite the fact that it’s a fairly time-honored tradition in action RPGs and roguelike games that involve searching maps and collecting loot.

The message was confirmed by Blizzard’s Rod Fergussonwho tweeted that the company has “no plans at the moment” to add an overlay card.

I have opinions and my opinion is that I did not buy Diablo IV Anyway, but if it were me, I’d really, really want the overlay map. It’s standard in ARPGs for very good reasons (and honestly I like them as an option in MMOs too, even better than minimaps, although I deal all cards).

Let’s take it to the elections. Is an overlay map essential in OARPGs?
