Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury Team record 100 wins | ATP Tour

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury recorded their 100th win as a team on Monday at Nitto ATP Finals. Second-seeded American-British won their opening Red Group match 6-1, 7-6 (5) against the seventh seed Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in 86 minutes.

Appearing for the third time at the season finale, the 2020 semifinalists improved their record 3-0 against Murray and Soares, including this year’s wins in Australian Open semi-finals and US Open Final. Overall they are now 41-16 in 2021.

Ram and Salisbury took 12 of the first 15 at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, with Salisbury hitting a smash winner to break Murray’s serve in the second game. Murray was once again under pressure with a 1-4 lead in the first 25 minutes of the first set and this time Salisbury hit back with teammate Brit’s footwork, resulting in a routine smash for Ram.

Salisbury and Soares both held 15/40 in their serving games midway through the second half, which was highly competitive and resulted in a draw. A brilliant reaction in the closing minutes and a moment of magic from Soares, who headed in at 0/3 in the first half, inspired England/Brazil to take three straight points. But Ram and Salisbury regrouped quickly and Ram ended the encounter with the backhand winner.

Murray and Soares, who reunite for the 2021 season, are making their fourth appearance as a team at Nitto ATP Finals. The pair have a record of 25-14 matches this year.
