Queensland Police shoot dead man after siege in Mackay triggers emergency lockdown

A man was shot dead by police in Mackay after reports of his threats prompted an emergency lockdown.
Police declared an emergency after being called to the home on Bridge Street near Mackay Base Hospital on Monday afternoon.
Bridge Street, Hume Street and Streeter Avenue were closed as officers dealt with the man and people were told to avoid the area.

After a two-hour siege, the man was shot dead by the police.
His condition was not immediately known.
It is not known what led to the shooting.
Police have yet to comment on the incident.
