Queensland crime: Two dead in shocking vehicle and pedestrian crash overnight

A spike in car crashes involving vehicles and pedestrians has claimed two lives in Queensland, with authorities recording four incidents as of Saturday night.

A 25-year-old man died after sustaining serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in southern Brisbane.

The man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition after the alleged incident at 11.18pm on Mains Road, near Turton Street.

He died in the hospital.

An 18-year-old man has been charged in the accident.

The teenager is said to have run a red light and fatally hit the 25-year-old.

He had just left a car collection in a nearby mall parking lot, police will claim.

The 18-year-old Calamvale man was taken into custody at the scene and charged with dangerous motor vehicle operation that resulted in death.

His bail was denied and he is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 3.

Anyone with information about the crash, including dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to contact police.

Four incidents overnight

Another person died in Manunda, a Cairns suburb, after being seriously injured in a suspected pedestrian and vehicle incident on Saturday night.

The person, whose age and gender were not reported, was treated as a scene at the corner of Kochstrasse and Alfredstrasse at 7.47pm.

They died at the scene.

A pedestrian in her 30s was injured after she was allegedly struck by a vehicle on Callistemon Street at around 10:30 p.m. in the central-western city of Biloela.

The woman suffered significant leg injuries and was transported to Biloela Hospital in stable condition.

A man in his 20s was also injured in an incident involving pedestrians and vehicles in Logan, south of Brisbane.

They were allegedly attacked at 8pm on Saverin Road, Eagleby.

They were transported to Logan Hospital in stable condition.
