Police received a report of shots being fired around 10am.
“Investigations tracked a vehicle to Quinns Hill Road where a woman was arrested,” a police spokesman said.
Two men were “briefly detained,” said Detective Acting Inspector Chris Ahearn.
They were later released.
The woman has since been charged with dangerous conduct with a weapon.
Police have since confirmed that there was allegedly a gel blaster in the vehicle at Quinns Hill Road.
“Investigations continue to locate the second vehicle,” the spokesman said.
“There are no reports of injuries.”
It is not known whether the other vehicle involved was damaged.
While the motorist who witnessed and reported the incident thought he heard a gunshot, Ahearn said police were “not sure if he was actually fired or not.”
Gel Blaster Concerns
Gel blasters can create “significant public alarm,” Ahearn said, because the devices look so much like a gun.
“They are not something that should be produced publicly.”
It’s a felony to have a gun in public, even if it’s not lethal, Ahearn said.
When asked about the widespread response to the alleged incident, Ahearn said it was “appropriate for these officers to ensure they mitigate any risk in confronting and detaining these individuals.”
The police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have captured footage from a dash cam is urged to come forward.
