QB Giants Daniel Jones vs. Dolphins; Mike Glennon to start

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters Thursday that full-back Daniel Jones’ starting status for Sunday’s game at the Miami Dolphins could drop to one decide game time as Jones works to recover from the neck strain he suffered during last Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Turns out Judge didn’t need to wait until the weekend.

As ESPN’s Jordan Raanan Notes, Judge confirmed Friday that Jones will not be playing Sunday afternoon and will be replaced by substitute Mike Glennon. Jake Fromm, recently signed to the Buffalo Bills’ practice team, will be New York’s QB2 in Miami.

“At this point, he hasn’t been contacted, so we’re going to go ahead and keep him out of this game,” Judge said of Jones. “At this point we don’t feel 100% comfortable with him until the medical team clears him completely, so right now we’re going to rule him out.”

Judgment declare Earlier this week, Jones’ defeat was not considered the end of the season at the time.

“We will be evaluating him in the future, including next week, with the doctors,” Judge continued Friday. “We don’t have any answers yet.”

Glennon came on as Jones suffered a concussion during the Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on October 10 and completed 16 of 25 196-meter passes with a touchdown and two interceptions. It’s unclear whether Judge and company would like to review Fromm later this month if Jones is absent after Sunday.
