The New York giants surprised some, if any, by losing their gripping 30-10 loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by shoot Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett on Tuesday as they finished 25th in the NFL with an average of 18.9 points per game and 23rd with 322.8 offensive yards per competition.
Shortly after Big Blue confirmed that decision, head coach Joe Judge tell media members he feels “we have to make some moves to give our offense a chance to change some things, be productive and hopefully score more points.” On Wednesday, quarterback Daniel Jones addressed Garrett’s dismissal.
“I feel the responsibility for our lack of production is an insult. I feel it,” explained Jones, according to Ryan Morik of SNY. “I think we should all feel that. I don’t think that has changed today. I still feel the same way. Coach Judge will make his decision as coach. Chief, that’s his job, but I don’t think that’s going to change.” We feel about how we played, how many points we scored, how we did sometimes. I think we know we have to do better, and that certainly belongs to each of us, the players. “
Every ESPN Statistically, Jones is 25th overall with nine touchdown passes and 21st with 2,226 passing yards. The third-year expert added that he accepts the blame for Garrett’s passing before Thanksgiving.
“That’s obviously an important part of how we feel right now,” New York’s QB1 said. “I think if you don’t feel that way then there’s a problem, and if you’re not responsible for our lack of production, then I certainly do, and that’s what makes it so difficult. We all have to do better and produce.”
Jones ranks 28th among qualifying quarterbacks with a passer rating of 84.0 and 26th with a QBR total of 40.8. The 24-year-old must now hope new caller, senior attacking assistant and former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens can make the most of his physical talents as the Giants keep hitting price to determine if a first-round draft pick from 2019 could be their long-term answer in the sport’s most important position.
