‘Put me in a fridge’ Alex Pereira stunned by Israel Adesanya’s weird ‘Frozen Like Elsa’ line FirstSportz

Alex Pereira x Israel Adesanya
Pereira is confused by Adesanya’s Frozen reference

Alex Pereira has made it his mission to establish his name at the top of the UFC’s middleweight division, replacing his nemesis Israel Adesanya. The former Glory Kickboxing Champion has taken the UFC by storm with his three straight wins, the last of which was a stop over Sean Strickland in 4th place.

During the press conference leading up to UFC 276, Pereira was perceived by fans as stoic and calm while everyone around him (mostly just Strickland and Adesanya) was wreaking havoc as much as possible. While Strickland Garbage talked about Izzy, Pereira watched in silence, not knowing what exactly or who Sean was saying those things about.

Today Pereira gave his first interview to a major MMA media outlet while sitting down with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour show. Discussing his first launch into his redesigned MMA career, the conversation continued until Helwani asked Pereira for a specific statement from Izzy. Helwani asked Alex what he thought about the “I’ll leave him frozen like Elsa” Zinger, which Adesanya repeats every time he stands in front of a microphone, and whether he understands it at all.

Alex Pereira confused by Israel Adesanya’s one-liners

Pereira, who had a non-ideal lifestyle as a child, obviously had no idea what Adesanya was talking about and he clarified that in his answer. (The following is a rough translation of what Alex said in Portuguese.)

“When I was a kid I didn’t have time to watch cartoons, movies or TV shows because I had to start working at 12 and never stopped.” He explained that his early life forced him to prioritize responsibilities over free time, which meant he didn’t have time for such things. he continued “Sometimes people think I’m arrogant because I don’t know anything about cartoons, movies, etc., but that’s just because I haven’t had the time.”

Alex then admitted that he recognizes that there are people who watch cartoons and learn life lessons from them, which he thinks is a good thing, but he just doesn’t get it. “Even though I understood the reference, I still don’t speak English so my reaction would still be the same.” said Alex, claiming that the line might have worked for someone who’s seen the cartoon or knows the language.

He said, “I don’t know. He said he was going to freeze me? How is he going to do that? Is he going to put me in the fridge?” A purposely hilarious line that even made Helwani laugh.

While giving Izzy all the credit he deserves, he simply ends his response by saying: “I haven’t seen the cartoon bro, I don’t know what he meant”
