Prosecutors ask for more time to file criminal charges against Jon Jones

Jon Jones’ most recent arrest took place on September 24 in Las Vegas after a confrontation with his fiance led his children to ask hotel security to call the police.

The police report included macabre details of the incident, including bloodstains on his fiancé and on the bed in their hotel room. That leads to small battery charge in water. Jones would go on to confront a police cruiser and threaten to fight the police who arrested him, resulting in a felony injuring a vehicle.

Whether or not Nevada prosecutors will proceed.

According to MMA Fighting, prosecutors have requested and received more time to file criminal charges against Jones, with the next hearing scheduled for January 31, 2022. This is the second delay in the case. forward the case, raising the question of whether the prosecution felt it was possible to put together a no-frills deal.

Since the incident, Jones has posted a video with her fiance implying that they were reconciled following the incident. He’s also vowed to quit drinking, and recently said he’s celebrating 60 days of sobriety.

Up to this point, the UFC has refused to settle the latest legal trouble for their former light heavyweight champion, saying they will wait until the legal side of things is cleared up. But even if this situation is resolved by the end of January (remember damaging a police car is a felony, more serious than a misdemeanor domestic charging), there will still be a big split between Jones and UFC related to salary payment.
