Prosecutors are dropping charges against Bengals RB Joe Mixon after allegations of pointing a firearm at a woman in street fury, but they could be refiled

Law enforcement slapped Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon after an arrest warrant was issued for him Thursday.

On Jan. 21, the day before the Bengals’ NFL divisional round game, the RB allegedly aimed a firearm at the victim and threatened to shoot her in the face, and police declined to hold him accountable. After the victim filed a complaint of serious threats, the police issued the arrest warrant.

However, the arrest warrant was dismissed by the court at the request of the public prosecutor. They also moved to have the charges dropped, which the court denied.

Why was Joe Mixon’s warrant dropped but not the charges?

The presiding judge for the city court, Curt Kissinger of Hamilton County, signed the dismissal order Friday, saying, “I will sign the dismissal record. And the warrant is being revoked pending further filing by the City of Cincinnati.”

“I will not deny the charges until I am satisfied that the alleged victim in the case has been notified,” said Judge Kissinger.

On the other hand, prosecutors said, “We need additional investigations before we can proceed with this case.” It opened the possibility of a retrial.

Should the allegations prove true, Joe could face up to 180 days in prison, putting the Bengals in an awkward position. The franchise released a statement on the 26-year-old’s alleged crime.

However, Mixon’s agent was fairly certain his client was innocent and accused the police: “I really believe that the police have a duty to do their job before filing charges – because of the damage done to the person’s reputation.” can be. They should be kept at a higher level because I’m not playing with people’s lives.”
