Alexander Volkanovski has firmly put his rivalry with Max Holloway to bed ufc 276, with an impressive clinic and an absolute decline to retain the UFC Featherweight Championship in the co-main event.
Volkanowski also launched strongly during keying and proved to be cleaner, faster and crisper. This was further underscored in the second round when one of Volkanovski’s punches left an ugly wound around his left eye Holloway.
Despite Holloway’s best efforts to pressure Volkanovski and use kicks more, Volkanovski just looked a lot better. Volkanovksi’s speed and technique did not decrease and did not lose strength.
In the fifth round, Holloway showed his heart, chin and fighting spirit by not giving in as blood trickled all over his face. But it wasn’t even close – all three judges gave the fight a 50-45 for Volkanovski.

Volkanovski and Holloway first met at UFC 245, with Volkanovski winning a clear decision for the UFC Featherweight Title. They would meet again months later at UFC 251, with Volkanovski winning again – this time by a highly controversial split decision.
Since their second fight, Volkanovski has retained the title against Brian Ortega and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Holloway, meanwhile, has picked up unanimous decision victories over Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez.
