Prison Bae Nyla Tomeka Murrell-French Goes Viral

There’s a new “prison” in town and her name isn’t Jeremy Meeks. (If you are not old enough to get 48 hours presenter, I’m sorry. Also, bring your ** to school.)

Meet 22 years old Nyla Tomeka Murrell – French.

When Murrell-French was 19 years old, she sentenced to seven years in prison for stabbing a 17-year-old girl in the neck leaving her with a collapsed lung and permanent nerve damage during an altercation at a gas station in St. Paul, Minnesota. The victim survived but suffered serious injuries, and Murrell-French cried at the sentencing but accepted her fate telling the court she was “very sorry for the mistake” she had made. Now, she seems to be making the most of her unfortunate situation.

Over the Christmas holidays, Murrell-French posted several photos to her social media account and captioned the posts, “Merry Christmas from Pretty Gangsta.”

Now, you all know how things go on these internet streets. Just like previous years when Meeks’ mugshot went viral and the women couldn’t help but notice him, good-looking made him such a big deal that it attracted attention got him a modeling contractOrange Is the New ‘Fuck She’s Fine‘”Take a photo.

(I realize she’s gray, not orange, but you can all refer.)

Of course, the new feeling of “imprisonment” is facing mixed reactions. A few men responded to Murrell-French’s Instagram posts with comments like, “ HOW MUCH PACKAGES DO YOU NEED? I get it mom” and “What is her cash app, I’m trying to make sure she gets a good meal there”.

But others on social media have taken issue with an inmate “glorifying” her crimes.

“The simple fact that you honor what you did a beautiful gangsta?” One Facebook user commented in response to her post. “There’s nothing confusing about what you did then brag about online, kids never learn.”

Several others have shared similar sentences.

So it’s understandable that people would be reticent about someone in prison for a violent crime going on social media and posting flattering pictures of her, but, come on, people—She was in prison.

Do people really go crazy when someone in prison is showing the world that she’s not suffering every second of every day? And does she really “glorify” anything? Do we really believe that anyone will would like going to jail after seeing the article by Murrell-French? I’m just saying, two things can be true at the same time: She may regret her criminal actions and stay a young person doing what many young people do — fly for the Gram.

Maybe the attention will give her a chance once she gets out of prison. Or maybe it was just a nice escape from captivity.

What do you all think of the new “jail game”? Is she just having fun despite her circumstances, or is she just not adapted to being a “beautiful barista?” Prison Bae Nyla Tomeka Murrell-French Goes Viral
