Harry was comforted by Megan as the couple viewed floral tributes left in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Body language expert Judi James told The Sun: “It’s reassuring to see Meghan’s supportive touches on her back and partial hugs for a clearly annoyed Harry.”

Prince William also gave the mourners an insight into his grief.

“We all thought she was invincible,” said William, who is now heir to the throne.

“It was surreal.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who now live in the US, were already on a charity tour in the UK when they were told Queen Elizabeth had just hours to live.

While Meghan stayed behind in England, Harry took a private jet to Scotland – but tragically arrived too late. Arriving alone in Balmoral, Harry stayed with his family for a few hours before setting out again alone to rejoin his wife.

Before the Queen’s sudden death, the couple had performed at events in Manchester and Düsseldorf in Germany and were due to fly back to California immediately.

“It’s fair to say that they obviously want to be there for the Queen and pay tribute to her,” said HELLO’s royal editor Emily Nash.

It is not yet known if their two children, son Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, will be flown to join the family.

As King Charles III. spoke of his love for Harry and Meghan in his first official address, royal watchers around the world wondered: Could the deep divisions between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and other members of the so-called Firm be resolved?

On September 10, hopes rose when William and Harry showed up along with their wives.

However, reports also surfaced that King Charles had asked Harry to come to Balmoral alone when the Queen’s health was failing, telling his younger son it was not “appropriate” for Meghan to be there.

Meghan has canceled two US appearances on September 20 – The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the UN General Assembly in New York.

She’s also pushed back the next episode for her Archetypes podcast, which PageSix said was due to be released on Spotify next Tuesday.

Harry and Meghan are expected to stay at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where they lived before moving to the US and retiring from royal duties.

Controversially dubbed ‘Megxit’, Harry and Meghan’s departure to the US was just the beginning of their rift with the royal family.

In a now infamous interview with American talk show host Oprah Winfrey, the couple made sensational allegations of racism within the royal family.

Meghan claimed she received no support from the “inner circle” when she had suicidal thoughts, while Harry said he experienced “a lot of pain” growing up within the royal family.

Later, in a separate interview, Harry opened up about his “genetic pain and suffering” and said he wanted to “break the cycle.”

He also said he and his older brother William are on “different paths” and their relationship “needs space.”

Queen Elizabeth kept a stiff upper lip throughout as she struggled with the illness and death of her husband Philip, saying only that some people’s memories of the past “can vary.”

And publicly, Harry and Meghan always spoke well of the Queen, so their rift was never really about them. Prince Harry’s pain at Queen’s death revealed in conversation with mourners: ‘It’s lonely without her’
